When it comes to crafting hard-bodied bangers made for raucous live shows, few rappers can top the seemingly endless energy emanating from iLL Chris. Time and time again, the Seattle rapper has shown his ability to craft massive singles. Sure enough, that remains true with his latest drop, “Numbers,” which features New Jersey spitter, Dougie F.
It’s actually Dougie who opens the track with the sing-along hook and a tongue-twisting verse demonstrating exactly what these two MCs have on their side: 100 b*tches, 100 racks, and 100 n*ggas. In other words, you probably shouldn’t mess with their women or money, otherwise you’ll have, well, a ton of dudes coming for you. So if you do cross Dougie and Chris, that one’s on you.
As for Chris, he’s still gearing up to release his new project, Honor Thy Father, which keeps sounding better with every preview. Of course, “Numbers” continues that trend in spades, thanks in part to the production work of frequent collaborator Young Forever. These two have made some of the year’s heaviest cuts so far—check out Chris’ Soundcloud for reference—and they’re pretty much guaranteeing that Honor Thy Father will be a problem.
“Numbers” is available for streaming now, while Honor Thy Father is due out this summer.
