Mental Health and Travel come together in a new book.
While many in her circle and beyond have lived vicariously for years via her Social Media accounts, Ash McGirt is stepping out and really taking her show “on the road” with the publishing of her new book “I tried to travel it away: Mental Health Tips for Travelers” which became available earlier this week.
Never one to shy away from Solo Travel and always having her next TWO trips planned out, she is truly a world traveler. One of my favorite photos is the one of her in South America holding the Seahawks 12’s flag over the ruins of Machu Picchu.
So, she has been all over the globe and in a brave way. That’s great! But what many people did not know about her is her work in the mental health community. She is a licensed mental health professional who recently opened her own practice. With this book, she is seemingly bringing her two passions together to produce a real product (Paperback is available:
Here is the description from Amazon:
“I tried to travel it away, written by a licensed mental health professional aims to help those who travel, and those who wish to travel get their mental health in order; through forgiveness, self care, and mindfulness practices, such as deep breathing exercises. In reading this book you will learn how traveling can impact your overall mental health and well being, while finding ways to keep the excess “baggage” [lies, guilt, shame, and burdens] at home. This book offers effective mental health tips to help you maintain your sanity before, during, and after a trip. If you find yourself constantly saying, “I need a vacation”, this book is for you. If you travel at least once a year this book is for you. If you travel more than five times a year, this book is definitely for you. I tried to travel it away aims to help you create a life you do not have to travel away from. Travel because you want to not because you have to!”
This seems to be the perfect gift for those traveling to get away from something… and those traveling to just get away!
