Seattle’s vibrant art scene and diverse community are once again in the spotlight with the launch of the Brooks x Damon Brown Collection. This unique collaboration is part of Brooks’ Artist Series, which aims to represent underrepresented communities within the running world. The series explores the intersection of identity and running through limited-edition products adorned with custom art from diverse artists.
A Tribute to Black Runners
The Damon Brown Collection is a celebration of Black runners in America and the communities they’ve fostered. It’s a nod to the sense of safety, community, and belonging that these athletes have carved out within the sport. Seattle-based
artist Damon Brown has designed a collection that features bold graphic tees, cushioned crew socks, and the Ghost Max shoe, which offers maximum cushion and protection.
Exclusive Launch in Black-Owned Stores
In a move that underscores the collection’s commitment to community and representation, the Brooks x Damon Brown Collection will launch exclusively in Black-owned running stores. These include Elite Feet 302 in Middletown, DE; Fleet Feet Adams Morgan in DC; Milestone Running in San Diego; and Runners Athletic Company in MI.
A Visual Ode to the Spirit of Running
Damon Brown’s dynamic illustrations aim to capture the essence of Black runners and the sport of running. “I aimed to create dynamic illustrations that captured the spirit and energy of Black runners and the sport of running itself,” said Damon Brown. “The silhouettes in the designs represent the past and present Black runners who have helped to pave the way for the sport.”
His work is a visual ode to the athletes who have shaped the sport and continue to inspire future generations.
This collection not only highlights the talent of a Seattle artist but also reinforces the importance of inclusivity and representation in all aspects of life, including sports.
