Northwest Hip Hop and XXL magizne, what comes to mind first? Would it be Seattle's Macklemore? Probally, not but that is what going on right now for another member of the Seattle Hip Hop scene. Rocking the stage in Key Arena during Bumpershoot. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are taking no days off with the dropping of "Make the Money" on XXL (yes, that XXL) website.
After the first listen, you get it. It being the craziness behind what makes Macklemore the leader of the #SharkfaceGang and Ryan Lewis's Kanye West-isque beats using live instruments. But it is that all the way gangsta flow with a broadway vibe. Listen to more of what these guys have been up to on soundcloud.
Put your feelings in your purse I'm just trying to have fun
-Luck One
Luke One's lastest project "King of the Northwest" is another dosage of good northwest hip hop. His project is a true collaboration effort with the features he has. But Luck's flow is never lost in the mix. This project shows the range an artist such Luck possess with bangers, lyrics that show the introspective side, and just some good ride music. But the two tracks I would say is a must listen is "King" and "These words of Mine".
“It’s just an everyday hustle, I hate to use that word hustle but that’s the reality of being an independent artist. Hustling you're moving, there’s no rulebook, there’s no guidelines, there’s no map of how to do what you're doing.”
I was lucky enough to get a phone interview with the amazing KimberlyNichole, and when I tell you it went from a simple interview into to an all out girl talk session I lie to you not! The Seattle native who now resides in New York has never forgotten where she comes from and will be damned if you tell her she’s not from “The Town.” I was able to get KimmberlyNichole to tell me the message she’s putting across in her debut album, ‘The Yellow Brick Journey’, why she left Seattle, how she felt about performing at this years 2011 BET Awards and so much more. Check out what Kim had to say below:
Why she left Seattle:
“I’ve always wanted to live in NY when I was a child in Seattle, and I kind of knew after I graduated high school that I wanted to expand my horizons and relocate. I went to two different places, I went to Atlanta and went to college, and then from Atlanta I went to New York”
The message she’s putting in her debut album ‘The Yellow Brick Journey’:
“I just want them to get a personal sense of where I come from, where I’ve been, my leaving Seattle, getting on this path and perusing music. And while on the path falling in love, falling out of love, struggling; I just want people to get a feel and a sense of my journey as it's been up to date.”
KimberlyNichole admits to being “nervous” before her 2011 BET Awards performance:
“I was nervous as hell. When I got to LA it was like my sinuses started acting up. I had a sore throat, I was like ‘Oh My God I’m not going to make it this small performance ’ I’m like ‘Oh My God is something sabotaging me?’ But when I got by the stage before I went up, it was like I got my game face on, and I’m like ‘Okay Kim this is what you do, you always do this girl, get up there and kill it.’ By the time I got on stage I just had this boldness in me, I’m like ‘honey just sing’ and give a show in 30 seconds”
Her plans to make Seattle proud:
“I’ve always wanted my town to be proud. I’m proud to be from Seattle. You rarely hear about music people or innovators coming from Seattle. You haven’t really heard about that since the grunge and Jimi or Quincy. My desire has always been to make that mark on the industry that Jimi and Nirvana did but to be memorable. To have a Wikipedia that says ‘Seattle born, music innovator KimmberlyNichole.’ That’s been my desire to really make my city proud, and for this generation to have that mark on the industry, and I think that it's going to happen.”
In the interview KimmberlyNichole said she didn’t know when she would be coming back to Seattle to do a show:
“Every artist I know, they always wanna go home to perform. Like I love going to New York, and Atlanta, and Virginia and over seas to perform, but I’m like I’m from Seattle I wanna go home and perform in front of my home town.”
Well she must have told someone since doing our interview because I just got an e-mail from her manager this morning saying she will be doing a show right here in Seattle on November 4th so stay tuned for more info on that. As for what’s next for Kim, she tells me:
“I’m still working on new music, I plan to release a Rock EP, which will be a free download of my favorite rock covers. Which has some Nirvana songs."

Jean Grae behind the music
Tuesday, 13 September 2011 23:50
It was a wednesday afternoon when I made my way to Kicks and Tees. There were a couple people inside all waiting for the same thing I was. Jean Grae, the talent. I had no idea how much so until I finally sat down next to her. Jean Grae is defiantly not the average hip hop name for any artist. But Jean Grae is not your average artist by any stretch of the imagination.
But “Cookies or Comas”, again not your average mixtape, but her latest project hosted by DJ Drama (Gangsta Grillz Special Edition) was only the warm up. Jean Grae first came on the scene back in the 90’s part of group named Natural Resources, and began her solo artist career with her “Attack of the Attacking Thing” in 2002.
Interesting titles aside Jean Grae’s blessing the northwest with her presence was not without purpose. To give the world “Cake or Death” her newest album slated for a fall release date. But no solid date is set or will be set as she explained. Her album which is a true testament to being in the driver seat of your own lane will be something that further showcases something that her old fans know and new ones will discover. Jean Grae as an artist is something you don’t explain between your definition of underground and mainstream. But in, an industry where ever artist has to fit in a box and have a title, Jean Grae kills that expectation with ever bar.
Janay Naybesa Interviews Jean Grae + ‘WTF Is A Femcee Contert Recap
Sunday, 11 September 2011 16:00
I had an amazing time interviewing Jean Grae before her ‘WTF Is A Femcee’ concert at the Skybox which was hosted by Miss Casey Carter and had performances by Dice and Laura “Piece” Kelly. In my interview we talked about Jean’s dating life, how she met Talib Kweli, her up coming project, and she even gave up and coming artist advice on how to be more then just a “local” name.
On having a normal dating life:
“Well I never had a normal dating life” “Nothing about my dating life is normal, ever ever ever”
Her advice to artist that want to be more then just locally known:
“well I think what’s interesting now, especially in this being 2011 is the internet is such a grate way to do business; which is something that we didn’t necessarily deal with. We started our lable in 96 97. We stole account numbers and Fedex numbers from companies… and sent them out to people that way. The good thing about technology is that you don’t have to do that now a days. The bad thing is that anybody can do that and put it out there.. We definitely have quantity over quality. I develop something interesting, hire some creative people, find out and decide what your marketyou’re your target market really is and be in the places that they need to be. Find out what they don’t have and supply them with it, and always make everything very exclusive…”
To find out how Jean Grae met Talib Kweli, what her up and coming project is and her thoughts on Seattle’s famouse “Dicks” watch the full interview HERE. But in the mean time check out some photos from her ‘WTF Is A Femcee’ concert below:
Thanks to Al Haymon & Live Nation Seattle [well Auburn] had a good time on September 4th when Lil Wayne brought his I Am Still Music Tour to Seattle with special guest of Keri Hilson, Rick Ross, Far East Movement, and if I’m not mistaken Lloyd.
According to Lil Wayne’s Twitter Page this might have been one of his best show’s YET! He tweets:
“Seattle was one of, if not the best shows yet! After Party at IMusic with my homies Jamal Crawford and Brandon Roy…Party time!!!!!”
Check out some of the pictures below of his concert and stay tuned to SeaSpot.com for more pictures and video clips of this exciting event!
Rapper The Game Talks On Why He Has Beef With Jay-Z
Saturday, 27 August 2011 12:30
By now it should be no shocker that rapper The Game doesn’t like Jay-Z, but the question that I think everyone has been wondering is why… Well thanks to this video I found on World Star Hip Hop we all get to find out.
Apparently when The Game was still a new rapper trying to make a name for himself, he saw Jay-Z at the club one night and asked him “how do you keep yourself so relevant” which in reality is a legit question for anyone that’s trying to break out and make a name for themselves. According to The Game this was Jay-Z’s cocky response “Most of you new rappers wont last long. Think of another lane” O_O your kidding right??? A MESS!!! All I can say is because I wasn’t there I don’t know what was truly said, but even if he did say this, I have a feeling that Jay-Z’s die hard fans will find a way to put the blame on The Game for Jay-Z’s snappy, your not worthy of my advice and wisdom response….
Let us know your thoughts on the Sea Spot page HERE….
Running low on 206 music, I think I can help you fix that. 206 artist J.Bre just hit us with a new single off his newest EP ‘The Revelation’ called ‘Perfect Recipe’. Check out the song HERE and let me know what you think.
The Song……
I have to say, this song is supper cute. I was able to listen to the song yesterday with J.Bre and for some reason I didn’t take the opportunity to ask him was his inspiration for the song was, but you better believe I will find out by the end of this week.
He talks about a girl that is the “perfect recipe” aka the perfect girl for him, and he tells the story of how me met her plus gives the ladies alittle tip on the type of girls that he’s into.

To be honest I have been meaning to look up some Shorte music, but with all the stuff I do throughout the day, if I want to look up artist music I have to write it down as a reminder. But anywho that's my problem. I received a e-mail from the managment of Shorte to feature his music, and after listening to his song 'In My City' I'm on the hunt for more of his music.
So who is Shorte????
From Everett, WA (Seattle metropolitan area), [shorte] rose above adversity and life's hardships through his music. His music allows him to share his feelings and observations about life. His style crosses several genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Rock. [source]
Apparently Shorte recently released his second EP “Fashionably Late” which has 6 fresh songs on it:
1 – Mr. Popular 2 – RollerCoaster 3 – Cruise Control 4 – Waiting For Me 5 – In My City 6 – Chuck Tees (Dubstep Remix)
Seattle had some NBA hoops despite the lockout. Thanks to H206.
This past weekend if you happened to be under a rock, Seattle Hoop stars took on the league. This being the closest thing Seattle has seen or heard of NBA level basketball since Oklahoma stole got their own NBA team.
This game featured Will Conroy, Spencer Hawes, Martell Webster, Aaron Brooks, Jamal Crawford, Terrence Williams, Isiah Thomas, and Brandon Roy(but he didn't play). Around 4,000 people up to support the charity game. The home team won it 140-122, with Terrance Williams taking MVP.
Meet local 206 artist Che Blaq. I found Che Blaq via a link that he posted on my FaceBook fan page, and since I liked the music I felt it was my duty as a local blogger to share it for the people that have yet to hear his music. Aren't I nice :)
Che Blaq did a cover for Usher's song 'Can You Help Me' which shows the amazing rang and control in his voice while he sings the WHOLE THING acapella. Check out the song and tell us what you think!!!
Bumbershoot 2011 Line Up: Wiz Khalifa, Big Boi, Kendrick Lamar and MORE
Thursday, 21 July 2011 15:01
The performers for 2011 Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival has been announced, and with all the different performers and their many different styles, everyone is bound to find something they will love to talk about the next day at work, on Twitter, or Facebook. Bumbershoot will be held September 3-5 at the KeyArena in Seattle Center.
For those of you that may be new to the Seattle/Tacoma area here is some info on what Bumbershoot is really all about:
Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival is produced by One Reel in collaboration with Seattle Center. Established in 1971, Bumbershoot takes place every year over Labor Day weekend and stretches across the 74-acre Seattle Center beneath the city’s iconic Space Needle. Bumbershoot programs 20 unique indoor and outdoor venues, allowing for a diverse array of arts including live music, comedy, theatre, dance, film, urban crafts, and literary and visual arts. [Via Bumbershoot]
I’m happy to say last year we had Drake and Mary J Blige, and this year we have HipHop/Rap artist Wiz Khalifa [who’s girlfriend Amber Rose was just here], recently added HipHop/Rap artist Big Boi, [who is working on his sophomore album Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader] and Kendrick Lamar who’s opening for Big Boi, will be just 3 out of over 100 artist expected to be at this years Bumbershoot.
One thing that you can always expect for Bumbershoot to bring out the goods on every year is the what I like to call “under the radar” artist. In other words, artist and musicians that wouldn’t necessarily be on the radio or have their video on channels like MTV and VH1, however their music is just as good and being exposed in this kind of festival like environment might be just what they need.
Having performances from Mavis Staples, to Wiz Khalifa and Big Boi, just proves that Bumbershoot makes sure that they will always stand out from the rest of our local music festivals:
“While there are plenty of changes this year, what hasn’t changed is our commitment to offering the most diverse festival lineup around,” says Chris Porter, Programming Director for One Reel. “Regardless of your age or tastes, there’s an artist appearing at Bumbershoot that will appeal to you.” [Via Bumbershoot.com]
Although Bumbershoot isn’t until September tickets are already selling pretty fast so if you wanted to buy $29 “Any Day Tickets” I give you fair warning that they are already sold out.
HOW THE TICKETS WORK!
One ticket gets you into all Bumbershoot venues, including both afternoon and evening shows at the Mainstage, subject to capacity.
All indoor venues have limited capacity, and tickets do not guarantee entry. Early arrival is recommended.

But this new video from Macklemore is something any fan of rap or hip hop can appreciate. The picture above is from the XXL so you know Macklemore is doing something right. But his wings video is something you can relate to if every had that first pair of kicks that just made you feel like you walking on air. Cause I remember those first pair of J's on my feet.
UPDATE: Nicki’s Hype Man Safaree Samuels aka Scaff Beezy Hit Nicki In The Lip
Thursday, 14 July 2011 17:18
If you havent got a chance to read my post Nicki Minaj Attacked By A “Male Friend”please take the time to read it to get caught up on whats going on. Now for the rest of us that had speculations of Nicki’s hype man [and "boyfriend"] Scaff Beezy being the “a man” that struck her in the lower lip, turns out that according to police reports [WHICH CAN BE SEEN HERE] we all guessed RIGHT.
The Dallas cops are telling TMZ the alleged ”a man” is Nicki’s assistant Safaree Samuelswho most of us know as her Hype Man Scaff Beezy. The crazy part thats getting me even more is that Scaff Breezy didnt just hit her in the lip…. he actually CRACKED her in the lip with, get this…. a damn suitcase… HUNNIE you gotta be real pissed to smack someone across the face with a damn suitcase. Check out the details below:
Nicki and Samuels were Arguing at a hotel pool in Dallas Monday night and took it upstairs to the room. According to the police report, Nicki followed Samuels up to the room they were sharing, to make sure he didn’t take any of her stuff. Nicki was in the room looking into her suitcase, which had some of Samuels’ belongings, when she says he “grabbed the suitcase and as he was picking it up, he shoved the suitcase across [Nicki's] chin and lower lip.” The police report goes on: “[Nicki's] teeth struck the inside of her lower lip, causing the inside of the lower lip to cut and start to bleed.” According to the report, a paramedic arrived on scene, but Nicki decided she didn’t want to press charges so the case was closed. [Via - TMZ]
I told yall TMZ would figure out who did this whether or not Nicki Minaj wanted to press charges lol. Even if you dont like TMZ you always gotta respect their hustle.
But anywho, I guess there isnt much to say about this because Nicki doesnt want to press charges for whatever dumba** reason I will never know. So I guess the question is what would you do????
Side Note: where are the pictures of her lip???? Now I know some of all are like Nay… why would you want to see that??? Well lets be real…every time someone else gets knocked upside the head we always see their bruises so personally I just wana see how bad it is for my damn self. Call me rude but heck I have no shame in my game I WANA SEE! Also, if you havent took a sec to read the tweets above, its pretty much Nicki taking to her Twitter account [if your not used to twitter, read the bottom tweet before reading the top] and saying that this isnt true. I cant say wether or not this is true because I wasnt there HOWEVER thispolice report being produced to the public by TMZ is very interesting.
SK has put some work in for his "Late Arrival" mixtape the warm up to his EP later this year. Seattle has another reason to be bobbing their head with the arrival of SK. He keep all in the fam with features from Sporting Life artist: Spac3man, Fatal Lucciauno, and D. Black. Production on this mixtape is on point, no industry beat jacking. The "Late Arrival" Mixtape is only available to listen and download on his bandcamp site. Be on the look for his EP project "When the Dust Settles" due out later this year.
Apparently while Nicki Minaj was having a good old time hanging out poolside last night she was “struck” in the lower lip by a man, during a heated argument According to TMZ:
Rapper Nicki Minaj told authorities she was “struck” in the lower lip by a man … during a heated argument at a swanky Dallas, TX hotel last night … law enforcement sources tell TMZ. Minaj was hanging out at the pool at the fancy Palomar Hotel when she got into a very intense verbal spat with an unidentified man she was staying with.
Nicki told a hotel employee to call police … while the man went to their hotel room. Nicki followed soon after.
When cops and paramedics arrived, Nicki told authorities their poolside fight continued inside of their room … and the manhit her in her lower lip.
The man had already left the scene when cops arrived … but Nicki insisted she did NOT want to press charges. Nicki also claimed she was NOT in a relationship with the alleged attacker.
Cops tell us an incident report was taken … but no charges will be filed per Nicki’s request.
The thing that I personally find most intriguing is that according to Necole Bitchie Scaff Beezy who is her hype man and rumored boyfriend tweeted that he was also hanging out poolside last night. Now because he didnt mention where he was at the question is was it him???? Simply because if it was him it would make since for her not to want to press charges.... HOWEVER if it was ME, Janay Naybesa HUNNIE let me tell you, I would have whooped that a** and then called the cops to that he can get that a** beat again while he's locked up and I'm moving on to the next mofo. But since we dont know who this mystery man is just yet, I suggest that you stay tuned to the site for updates by"Liking" my site FaceBook Page so that you will know exactly when I post up who this man is and WHY charges was not pressed. Because Let's be real... If TMZ is on the case we will know EVERYTHING by this time next week if not sooner LOL.
New Video: Beyonce – Best Thing I Never Had + Review
Friday, 08 July 2011 15:09
Beyonce just released her video for Best Thing I Never Had [which is one of her singles off her album 4], via her YouTube Vevo Channel.
I can’t front, if it wasnt for Twitter I wouldn’t have known that this song was going to launch today, but because I just got done watching it I figure I can give you all a little review of the video.
Beyonce’s video for Best Thing I Never Had starts off with Beyonce in a room wearing the lingerie that goes under her wedding gown and right off the bat she looks AMAZING. One of the first things that you notice besides the fact that she looks grate in white is her make-up. The make-up she has in this video reminds me of Nicki Minaj’s natural look she had in her video for Your Love. It’s something about when a women is able to put on make-up that doesnt add totheir beauty and over power what they already have, but it just enhances their beauty to a point of their skin glowing, you notice their natural eye color, and that fact that they have amazingskin.
When I first started watching the video, I was a little bit confused at the theme she had for the video but after watching it a second time I quickly understood what she was doing. Pretty much its her wedding day with the man of her dreams and she’s thinking back on a guy she dated years ago that she wasted so much time on. Just like most women, there is a guy she was with and he did her dirty but for some reason she would look past that and just want to stay with him anyways. For some reason she though he did no wrong, and that he was the man of her dreams even though he treated her like sh*t. However now that it’s years down the line she’s pretty much wondering why did I waste so much time on this guy “thank God I found the good in goodbye”.
The video and the song is one of those songs/videos that makes you realize that everyone that you date, you date them for a reason, and when you break up with them, there’s a reason for that too. Why we as people always wana keep that Man or Women that does us so dirty, and not just take it as a lesson learned, I will never know.
Check out the video HERE and check us out on Facebook or Twitter to let us know what message you are getting out of video, if you like the video, and what you want her next video to be.

Let me start off by saying these off brand blogs need to stop giving bloggers like myself that are just trying to get news out there and do something we enjoy a damn bad name by spreading lies about celebs. Mess like that is why a lot of people dont trust blogs.
Now that I got that mess out of the way [SMH] Nicki Minaj is coming to Amber Rose’s defense because a certain entertainment blogger [who idk] is so lifeless that they made up a lie saying Amber Rose was “sexting” Nicki’s boyfriend Safaree Samuels.
If you let Nicki tell it through her twitter she quickly lets us know that the rumors are FALSE and are simply for “entertainment purposes” and who ever made this mess up better watch out because karma is a mutha…
Check out her tweet below:
All this Amber Rose mess just keeps proving my point that ever since her and Kanye broke up her career public eye wise hasnt been doing all that grate. Dont get me wrong I bet she is happy with Wiz, and if she’s not they do a good job making it look like they are happy. But I dont know what it is but is seems like she has just been having all kinds of bad luck. Well at least herrelationship with Wiz is going well I hope I didnt speak too damn soon.
Wiz Khalifa has not addressed the situation directly however he did write this on his Twitter:
“Everyday I Wake Up Next To The Most Beautiful Wife. And Bake Up To The Most Beautiful Life.”
Smh if you use Twitter right is like a big Gossip site of its own. Whatever maybe Wiz will say something about it later
Side Note:Am I the only one that didnt know Nicki had a boyfriend???? Well shows that I deff couldnt be a Barbie LOL
Check out this new video by local 206/253 rapper L.Hammond called ‘The Wake’ and let us know what you think…
I would like to thank L Dot Hammond and his manager Amir for posting this video on my wall because the song and video are on point! I love that he’s letting it know that he is about to run this ish, heck he might as well called this Whats Really Good Haters because I’m lovin it.
I wondering what his motivation was behind this song and was lucky to get and answer, check out the tweet he sent me below:

It was almost midnight on June 16, 2011 when I waited in the Nectar Lounge VIP to meet one of the West Coast's most notable rappers in the rap game, Yukmouth. Draped out in Gucci threads, iced-out from top to bottom, he rolled in the club with his Dragon Team entourage including rising rapper Philthy Rich for the 'Rise N Grind' tour.
Later, I asked him some questions about his career, his label Smoke-A-Lot Records and the projects he has lined up for the future.
Here's what the West Coast Don had to say...
How long have you been in the game?
A: I've been in the rap game since 1993..so almost 18yrs.
What's the secret to your success?
A: My secret is keepin it real 2 myself/the streets & the fans who support my music..i think THE LUNIZ was ahead of the rappers back then so ni99az just now catching up on to punch lines & catchy hooks...i been doing that since the early 90's so what these rappers are doing now is nothing new 2 me!
What would you do if you weren't in the rap game?
A: If i wasn’t in the rap game i probably be a DRUG DEALER...LOL..naw j/k but i can draw like a muthafucka so i would probably be a CARTOONIST for a comic book company or an animation company.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
A: I wouldn’t change nothing...i LOVE MYSELF!!...a lot of people say they would change the neighborhood they grew up in but not me...how i grew up & my surrounding is what made me YUKMOUTH..if i was raised in the burbs the fans wouldn’t get this THUGGED OUT ni99a rappen named YUKMOUTH period.
What us your motto?
A: My motto is....if u gone do it,DO IT RIGHT!!
What kind of projects would you like to put together in the near future?

Let me start by saying that I knew that I would be somewhat disappointed in the 2011 BET Awards show which is why I didn’t post anything about it on Naybesa.com. Like honestly I didn’t see a point in posting on something I have a feeling I’m going to be disappointed in. It’s a waste of my time to do the post and a waste of your time to read it because it going to be half a**ed
I will say that Kevin Hart did his part! He made sure that his jokes wasn’t too damn corny and that the same time wasn’t too damn risky, to wear he would piss everyone off. I loved his bid about how these celebs have people working for him that are straight up “Yes Men” like really, you need someone to tell you when what your doing is out of pocket and you need to go sit that a** down and not someone that’s just worried about getting paid.
The high light of the show to me had to be Beyonce/Kelly Rowlands performances. They both did amazing. I was a little upset for a second because Beyonce didn’t do ‘Run The World’ but she did ‘Till The End Of Time’ and f*cked that stage up so its all good. And yes I Tvioed it LOL.
Now Kelly Rowland… HUNNIE! Her ‘Motivation’ performance, had no need for Lil Wayne that time around. Let me start by saying the simple fact that she came out in the middle of Trey Songz number warned everyone that her performance was going to be something to change the way that everyone looked at her from now on. She is no longer that ex member of Destiny’s Child that’s trying to make it. She is officially Kelly Rowland the R&B singer. That women took that stage, dropped it low, rolled it around a little and then let Trey Songz kiss all over her neck afterwards. Man all I could do was say YES KELLY YES. You better let them know you are here and aint going no where!…… As long as sex still sell lol.
Alicia keys performance was nice too. Im not surprised that she hopped her ass on the piano again. She clearly wasn’t going to let the fact that everyone was going in on her for getting on that piano while prego stop her from hopping her a** back up there again. It was lovely hearing her sing some of her old songs again. But the be honest that was about it…. It was just nice *shrugs*
I have to say a downer for me was Mary J Blige’s performance. And the fact that she opened wasn’t helping. Say its because I’m young all you want I don’t care. I feel that she’s trying to act like she’s 25 and needs to stop it because it’s not working. Nuff said.
I was also somewhat disappointed in Chris Brown’s performances, he has done WAY betterperformances. I feel like it was supper rushed together and he could have done better then what he did. Its as if he thought him just being up there would be enough. Smh
A funny moment for me was when Nicki Minaj was on stage and she got her award for best female artist. She gets on stage and says that she’s surprised that she won and everyone started ROLLEN why because the people that she was going against didn’t have ish on her and it was evident that she was going to win and she knew it was. However it wasn’t what she meant, but at the same time you knew she could understand why everyone was laughing and even had a couple laughs of her own. I wonder what those girls faces looked like when everyone was laughing. Because lets be real. The way people was laughing its clear everyone thought it was a joke that they even put them in the same category as her. Hell people started laughing before it was even announced who won lol.
Now I thought that Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj was going to perform… Did I miss something there????? Like to be honest Im kinda annoyed at the way the they promoted the show because they had me thinking that Drake and Lil Wayne was going to perform doing one of there own head liner songs however for some reason the only time I saw them on stage was when they were featured in a song. So im like ummmm wtf man! You fooled me lol. I mean I’m not man but DAMN I was hoping for a little 6’ 7’ here and there but whatever its all good. The awards show was cool but I felt like it was a little bit shorter then normal but maybe it was just moreinteresting then normal idk. Either or if it comes on again and unless there isn’t something else on I don’t plane on watching it again.
Missy Elliott is finally speaking out about her Graves’ Disease and what we havent heard any new music from her in such a long time. Missy has been suffering from Graves which is aautoimmune disease that affects the thyroid, since back in 2008. Missy Elliot took the time to have a talk with People Magazine about how disabling the disease has been towards her over the years. Check out what she had to say below:
"I was [driving and] trying to put my foot on the brake, but my leg was jumping. I couldn’t keep the brake down and almost crashed,” the Virginia rapper-producer reportedly told People Magazine. “I couldn’t write because mynervous system was so bad — I couldn’t even use a pen…I’m 30 pounds lighter because I’ve been exercising.” Elliott continues. “My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months. [But] you live with it for the rest of your life.” Source
Miss Elliott will be featured on VH1’s Behind The Music on Wednesday June 29, where she will discuss her battle with Graves disease, weight issues, and being sexually molested as a child.

Lupe Fiasco Talk's With Bill O’Reilly About His Obama Terrorist Comment
Tuesday, 21 June 2011 12:03
I dont know if you all remember the interview where Lupe Fiasco let everyone know that he felt Obama was the biggest terrorist [which can be read here], and it sent the internet and even some policiate type people in an uproar. Well finally he has taken the time to “clear up” what he meant when he said “I think Obama is the biggest terrorist” however if you ask me he just made things a little bit worse. Check out what he had to say below:
Lupe: To put it into context, I was asked about a song I did called ‘Words I Never Said’ which addresses terrorism. So the statement that I made which was ‘I believe that the biggest terrorist [is] Obama and the United States of America and it’s foreign policy,’ that was what the whole context of everything was. And it’s really just an expression of me trying to understand critically the society.
Bill:You know President Obama’s not a terrorist. He’s trying to do what he believes is the right thing to do. The United States is not a bad nation it’s a noble nation. We’re trying to defend ourselves against people who killed us on 9/11. Then you go out there and you talk to a lot of younger people and this is what gets me. That your constituents are not exactly political science PHDs, okay. They’re impressionable kids.
Lupe: I don’t think that that matters.I don’t think yo need to have a political PHD to understand politics. I don’t think you necessarily need that. And I don’t think that politics are as complex as people like to make them seem or out to be. Richard Nixon said that, you know, if they reduced fear by reducing the causes of fear. In that same interview which I spoke about calling Obama ‘terrorist’ and every president before and after him a terrorist, right, if you’re gonna fight terrorism, right, true terrorism, weaponized fear…in defensive of ourselves we’re fighting, actively fighting something else. But if you’re gonna fight terrorism, to me, you fight the root causes of terrorism.
mmmm…mmmm…mmmm Bill in the end pretty much told Lupe that he was giving his younger fans a misleading message by “oversimplifying” politics, and I must say in so many ways I agree…..When it comes down to it bottom line is you cant blame someone for something that was already messed up. People are pissy that gas prices are high, well gas prices was high when Bush was in office too. People are pissy that they cant find a job, it maybe a little bit harder now a days because things havent been getting much better HOWEVER last I checked people had a hard time finding jobs when Bush was in office also. People are forever complaining about the war and the "real" reasons why we are over there but news flash, people were complaining about that mess when Bush was in office since the first day all these damn wars started. My point is Bush jacked this place up for 8 years like I said before, however what people are forgetting is that it takes 5 seconds to mess something up but it can take a lifetime to fix it.
In stupid dummy terms, if you have a credit card, and you buy a phat TV with it thats thousands of dollars however dont pay the bill for 6months straight. Its going to take longer to pay that bill off and get your credit score back on track then it would have if you would have started making the payments on time or if you just didnt buy it at all because you knew good and well you didnt have the money to pay it off no how.
Now if all that makes since, all I have to say is, if your going to be mad at Obama for things that arent going the way that you feel it should be.... Make sure that its something that HE messed up on and not something that has been either getting messed up or was messed up before he even got into office because that's ignorant and not fair. I'm Sorry [no im not lol] but someone had to say it and it might as well have been me :)
Spac3man droped a new video for his second single off his "Featuristic" project. Space used the Drake's Still fly and brought his style to it. The video featuers Urbanity a local get fresh shop out here in Seattle. Why is Spac3e still fly? You gotta go back to his "Greetings Earthling" Mixtape and get hip to the orginal Fly Dena Mufuka and see why this guy stays fly.
I would like to introduce you to local 206/253 rapper L.Hammond. I found his music from a video post that he put up on the SeaSpot facebook page and I knew I had to feature his music. I gotta say, I dont know what it is about this 2011 year but it seems like all of the 206/253 artist that are truly talented are finally coming out of the wood works, and if you ask me it's about damn time. A little background on this artist:
Standing tall, steady with a calm demeanor Lamar “L. Hammond” has been gaining the attention of audiences in Seattle, Tacoma, and beyond since 2005.Noting influences such as Jay-Z, Dipset, Jadakiss, Lil’Wayne, and Young Jeezy L.Hammond not only understands the equation to creating a crowd pleaser, but delivers his style with the ease of a seasoned veteran. L.Hammond translates that same demeanor to the stage capturing audience attention with high energy and personable delivery. Beginning first by creating Mixtape Monster Volumes 1, 2, and 3. L. Hammond was asked to be a guest at Seattle’s Kube 93 DJ Hyphen’s Sunday night Sound Session summer of 2007. Next, L.Hammond created a double-disc mix-tape “The Mixtape” under the entertainment group Faded and Famous thatHammond is also a member of. It is with this album that L.Hammond, began his start to success.
Check out his music video below for Why They Hating, which is the song that truly caught my attention:

Naybesa Interviews Roderic + His New Video "Thrown AMF"
Wednesday, 15 June 2011 11:08
I’ve been bumpin Roderic for a couple years now, and since he just dropped a new video [that was on point I must say] for “Thrown AMF” last Friday, I thought it would be the perfect time to pick his brain. Check out what the local Tacoma rapper has been up to since his appearance on 106 & Park, and why if he could he would get advice from Young Money Cash Money rapper Bidman.
What made you go into Rapping??
I was always a music lover but I was actually shy as a kid. I started to write everything that i didn't say which eventually evolved to rhymes, full songs, and then shows. I haven't stopped since
As you know Washington State really isn’t on the map now a days especially when it comes to rap music. How do you think your music can change that?
I think I have a solid understanding of musical dynamics vs. the market which shows in my music. Not everyone can or even wants to walk the fine line of making something radio and television worthy while still remaining lyrically witty, or delivering a message. Thats always been a challenge that I'm up for
You was on 106&Park a couple years ago, has that helped your career out in anyway?
It was definitely a plus! the feedback from viewers via twitter, facebook & youtube was incredible. I took that moment as a opportunity to build new relationships and get on a few peoples radar. but no stage is big enough to keep me out the booth so to be honest i enjoyed the moment but soon after i just wanted to get back to the studio.
Has your rap style ever been compared to anyone that’s mainstream?
Yeah, My bro Dj ill will always says i remind him of a 2011 nelly... Thats prolly my favorite comparison. Nelly was actually the 1st artist I seen perform live, and also the 1st one I opened for. I've always thought his entrance to the game was dope as well!
If you could get advice from any artist in the game right now who would it be and why?
I think I'd wanna chop it up with birdman. business wise, I feel like he's got the formula for how to move in this day & age. You see him & his camp merging with others when necessary and always keeping up their pace although their on top. Thats definitely somebody to listen to.
Last I checked you write your own music. What do you use for inspiration when writing?
Mainly my own life. Writing for me has become something like a recap process. If i just got in from a fly ass party then i'll probably be talkin that fly shit. If i just seen something on TV that’s got me feeling philosophical, then you might here a deep track from me. I think its perfect that way. as long as I'm paying attention there's always more to write about.
You just had a video drop for “Thrown AMF” and I must say the video was on point, and reminded me of Moms Weekend at Eastern. What was your favorite part in filming the video?
The Entire thing!! I was scheduled for a show in Ellensburg for CWU students, but knew I was gonna be in town a day early. A couple students told me that weekend would be crazy so i grabbed my bros from orynge productions and they pretty much rolled the camera while i did my thing. it was a non stop two-day party! I'm glad i was able to give the students something dope to look at as well.
Now for those like myself that are truly feelin this song where can we download it and what mixtape or album of yours will it be on?
Its definitely gonna be on my full length project which will be out no later than sept. I'm kind if keeping the name hidden as well. but I can guarantee it'll all be worth the wait. As for as the song...
Now that your video has dropped, what’s next for Roderic?
Shows, more videos, and a full length project no later than sept. Stay tuned!
Ok last question and I always do this one for my ladies. You have a song with Sean Carson named Gutter Girls, have your found your Gutter Girl yet? Or are you still looking for your Miss Ma?
Hahaha, Naah i still haven't found either or!... maybe she'll come find me instead lol, @RodericMusic
If your and up and coming artist and would like me to check out your music for a interview e-mail me at
