It's always difficult for an artist to continue their buzz after a smash single, and in this case for Wiz Khalifa that smash hit being "Black and Yellow". Gaining a large following of hipsters, smokers, and fans of his music has helped propell Khalifa from mixtape rapper, to performing his hit in front of his hometown Pittsburgh audience halftime at a Steelers game.

Those of us who have been keeping up with his progress would argue that the turning point for Wiz was his "Kush & OJ" mixtape that released nearly a year ago. His relaxed, melodic sound, mixed with his interest in a certain recreational activity has captured fans long enough to keep Wiz in the lime light. Coming off his Wake & Bake Tour, Wiz dropped is long awaited album Rolling Papers and is estimated to sell anywhere from 190K-200k records in his first week.

This album gives you more than just your typical "stoner music" from Wiz. He has more of a upbeat party vibe, songs like "No Sleep" and his second single "Roll Up" are examples of that. This album has a lot of songs that you can definitely kick back, and ride to. If you're expecting to get an album that's like Kush & OJ, or his B.A.R (Burn After Rolling) mixtape, you'll be disappointed. His latest mixtape "The Marathon" is definitely a must listen to if you want a feel for the music coming out of Los Angeles, California right now. His tall, thin frame draws comparisons to Long Beach legend Snoop Dogg. His melodic sound also reminds listeners of Snoop Dogg, back when he was signed to Death Row Records.
